Menhir – Sound Track CD
Sound Track, part of Menhir’s Desert Series is inspired by the Sahara desert and the saharaui refugee camps. It is the soundtrack of the documentary “My first life”, by the Mexican filmmaker Carlos Hernández. The film describes the birth and first days of a child in the camps. The music is composed with analog synths, voices, and electric guitars, mixed with medieval cellos and sandstorms, in 6 music pieces of ritual ambient. Recorded live in the studio, it’s music conceived to overflow the inside-out. A song that is a message, dream wrapped. The changeless time, pulling us as sandstorms. The possible sun and light.

Elsehow – Patterns CD
Patterns is the debut album from Elsehow (singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Piero Delux). It’s a beautiful collection of original songs that range from art-pop through to synth pop, plus three covers of material by artists who Piero cites as major influences (Talk Talk, Brian Eno and Scott Walker). It’s an album ideal for the summer with lots of shifting, shimmering sounds and Piero’s plaintive vocals, but it’s definitely bittersweet with minor keys and songs of love and loss.

The German Ocean – goii CD
goii (German Ocean 2) is the follow up to the Brighton post-ambient dronescape merchants’ eponymous debut. Where the first album took listeners to the cold deep seas, goii attempts to reach for the sky; the five tracks acting as an imagined map into a world of thinning oxygen and eerie silence, punctured by the external drones of engines, propellers, the rattle of mounted cannon and movements of air that sing their strange songs along to the inner voices, chants (or prayers?) of men and women experiencing the thrill and fear of altitudes their fleshy bodies were never meant to attain. The fields below are a patchwork quilt bounded by hedgerows and dotted with sheep, grazing without a care in the world or a single thought for the feats of bravery, love and bloodlust above.
